I had met Emma and Jake several years earlier at Jake’s Mum’s birthday party in Eastham. I remembered having a great night there amongst so many fun characters and a family full of interesting characters. Jake’s Mum Jan had sung a few numbers with me at her birthday and she also obliged at Emma and Jake’s wedding at Mere Brook House.
Lorna, Don and the team did a spendid job of making the guests feel right at home and the meal began with some very individual speeches and I remember fondly certain references to grandad’s twist on “well-known parlour games” that may be deemed unsuitable in certain company…
We had a great night with plenty of sing alongs and bopping to long improvised medleys of motown and classic hits that can take on a life of their own… I can’t wait to see some photos from this latest wedding at Mere Brook House and hope to upload soon. In the meantime, all the best! xx

Pianist Vocalist at Steve and Ellie’s Wedding at Mere Brook House, Wirral
I had a great time at Steve and Ellie’s wedding on Monday at Mere Brook House. They had both been round to the studio several times to discuss reprtoire and timings for the day and we got on really well. They too worked unusual hours so it was important to set out a clear plan while we were all available.
I set up the baby grand piano in my usual corner at Mere Brook House and played a few sets for the drinks reception. Steve suggested this should be just instrumental as I would be singing later on with the more upbeat sets. This worked well and the atmosphere built up throughout the day. We had a sing song and a bit of a dance in the evening but the plan was to create a nice backdrop and take a few requests from his guests who were close family.
Well, you couldn’t wish to meet a nicer couple! Off to the Maldives now for a bit of sun I believe. I’m sure they’ll be very happy…
Pianist at Laura & Stu’s Wedding at Mere Brook House, Thornton Hough, Wirral
On the Friday evening, I set up the piano again for Laura and Stu’s wedding at a fantastic new venue in Thornton Hough, Wirral – Mere Brook House, owned by Lorna and Don. With just close friends and family, Laura and Stu had chosen the perfect venue for a very welcoming, intimate setting where guests are invited to go to the kitchen to have their food served so that they can take as little or as much as they wish and also try more than one particular dish. All food is apparently locally sourced and I must say it all smelled absolutely delicious.
After playing through the wedding breakfast, I followed guests out onto the terrace for some fresh air before setting up the lights as darkness fell – just in time for the barbeque around 10pm supplying bacon, sausage and black pudding to keep the dancers dancing… and dance they did!
